This two piece body armour set is constructed of 16 gauge polished carbon steel and comes complete with leather straps. Its 9 lb weight is slightly less than what would have been worn in the days of Caesar. Its esthetic and attractive design lead to its common depiction on gladiators and common soldiers in the movies, but this stylish armour was more likely used in more aristocratic and ceremonial proceedings. Utilitarian warriors of the era preferred the mobility and lighter weight of the banded armour available at the time.
